Freelance in LA!

Earlier this month, a few of us from the Freelance Fam made the flight from HI to LA for The Venue Tradeshow right in the heart of the Fashion District in DTLA.

Fresh off the plane, one of the first faces we saw in the lobby of our hotel was Shepard Fairey, owner of Obey! If that’s not a good omen for this trip, I don’t know what is.

Shepard Fairey just so happened to be at the hotel for a small commissioned piece… on the side of the building. This beast was completed in only 3 days, and we were fortunate enough to see the whole thing from beginning to end. [ see the story here ]

Then it was off to the show for set up.

A few lucky friends at the show got a Freelance tote bag (featuring an exclusive Freelance design by Jeff Gress, POW! WOW! Hawaii) with stickers, and some collection-themed goodies.

We got to catch up with good friends. Here’s Jon Phenom with Lady Maximo (fashion stylist for recording a segment at our booth.

And made some new friends. With Andy from IMKING and Martin from Breezy Excursion.

Showcasing our upcoming “Universal Hustle” collection at our “Corner Store”-themed booth. All in all, it was a great show and we’re definitely looking forward to coming into a neighborhood near you!

Some other notables from the trip… we got to stop in at the Great Company. A music house where all things creative reside. Also the home of the infamous jogger pant launch party by Publish.

And what would a trip out here be worth if we didn’t head up to Agenda too?! The Long Beach show is no joke. It’s a massive haven of streetwear giants and dreams. One of the best parts of the show was the super ill lowrider and ice cream cart (with mural design by Cartoon) at the Hurley booth.

We also fit in time to get out to Spocom in Anaheim and the LA Lowrider Supershow at the Convention Center! So many things and pics, this post would be way too long. Follow us on Instagram instead @FreelanceBrand. But we couldn’t leave LA without eating at Roscoe’s of course.

Until next time…
